On the 2nd of October 2021. Our founder Kuorkor was driving slowly through Spintex, not sure of where she was going but convinced that she would find the perfect spot for a much needed additional branch. At this point, we had been thinking of opening two pop up shops, one possibly in Tema and the other at Kasoa to ease the pressure on the Osu and East Legon branches for the December “busy” season. The pop up shops were also for us to have a feel of both localities before deciding where to open our third branch.
We had gone scouring along the Tema General Hospital Road all the way to the Rotary Centre as well as Comm. 7 and 9 but the shop owners were not very receptive of renting out shops for only 2 months for a pop up. Also, considering salon logistics/plumbing et al., it started becoming quite clear to us that we had to take a leap of faith and open a new branch.
A few days after this realisation, Kuorkor decided to give Spintex a try but decided to explore and use a parallel and unfamiliar road, specifically the road opposite Palace mall. Not knowing that this is known as the East Airport neighborhood. She drove till she came across a nail parlour. She happened to meet the owner and they had a conversation only for her to realise that there was space in the building. She peered through the locked grating at the space, saw the wooden ceiling and was sold (You know we love our wood right?)!
We had been searching and asking friends for months and this location literally just fell into our laps! The location was great for us and once our manager and accountant were on board, we sorted out rent with the landlord and went into full getting-ready mode. The plan was to open in November but you know how Ghanaian artisans can be so we finally managed to soft open on the 8th of December and fully launched on 13th December 2021.
It’s been 7 months of operation now and we can say for a fact that God has been faithful and we are so thankful to for his mercies.
